Kluane – Wildlife & Vistas
Our Haines Junction and Kluane National Park road trip is an amazing opportunity to see the edge of one of Canada’s most beautiful National Parks. The park itself is off limits to vehicles, but the grandeur of the region will still leave you in awe!
The drive to Haines Junction winds through the Yukon wilderness, and along the way we pass through the territory of various wild horse, elk and bison herds. Not to mention all the black and grizzly bears that roam the area.
Once we arrive in Haines Junction, we will pay a visit to the Kluane National Park and Reserve Visitor Centre, a stunning, world-class building dedicated to artifacts, art, and digital displays about Kluane. After we’ve learned about the park and the largest non-polar ice field within it, we will jump back in our vehicle and head off to see a lake or two. We will make sure to make several photo stops along the way, it’s too beautiful around here not to!
We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 a.m. and travel to Haines Junction and Kluane National Park, along the Alaska Highway. We’ll make a lunch stop at the Village Bakery in Haines Junction (food not included), and weather permitting, we’ll hopefully have time for a short walk, with incredible views! We will return to your Whitehorse hotel at around 5:30 p.m.
Please note: The interior of Kluane National Park is only accessible by hiking, canoeing or by plane as there are no roads into Kluane. This incredible drive will take you along the edge of the mountains in the Kluane region, and will leave you in awe!
