Call of the Klondike

Welcome to Whitehorse, the capital of Yukon, the true north of Canada. Your guide will personally pick you up from the airport and take you to your accommodation.

This morning we embark on the scenic drive to Skagway, nestled in Alaska’s coastal fjords. Along the way, marvel at the breathtaking landscapes of the Klondike Highway, and the Southern Lakes, featuring towering mountains and pristine lakes.

Today, we take the fast ferry through the Inside Passage, from Skagway to Juneau, the capital of Alaska. If a boat trip surrounded by mountains, hanging glaciers and waterfalls isn’t enough, the Inside Passage is also a popular feeding ground for orcas and humpback whales. During your 4 hours of free time in downtown Juneau you can fill you time how you please! Options range from walking tours, visiting the Mendenhall Glacier, enjoying Juneau’s wonderful restaurants, go shopping or take the tram up Mt Roberts, as well as many other options!

Today we load onto the Yukon & White Pass Railway as we ride the entire length of the track as we head through the mountains, back to the Yukon. Completed in 1900, the train ride from Skagway to Carcross is one of the most beautiful train rides in the world, you don’t need to be a train fan to appreciate this epic journey.

Today comes with a few options! For the adventurous there’s an included option to canoe (or kayak) on the Yukon River, where you can experience how the Yukon was travelled for thousands of years before the first roads in the territory were built in the 1940s. In the afternoon you will be taken to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve to see some of the Yukon’s wildlife in their natural habitats. After that it’s off to the Eclipse hot Springs for a soak in the pools…

Overnight Whitehorse

The North Klondike Highway winds through the Yukon wilderness for hundreds of kilometers. We break up the drive by taking a guided river boat trip down the Yukon River to Fort Selkirk, the first trading post in the Yukon. Our First Nation guides tell us of the stories of their ancestors, their experiences with the flood of outsiders, and how it changed their entire way of life.

Well, we made it! After a fun evening under the midnight sun, today we set out to explore the city with a guided city tour, a visit to Bonanza Creek, the claim that started it all. And of course, no trip to the Klondike is complete without trying your hand at gold panning. Who knows, maybe you’ll strike it rich!

Overnight Dawson City

Today we take a trip up the infamous Dempster Highway to the Tombstone Territorial Park, known for its striking mountain scenery and unique geology. This wild terrain is a photographer’s dream, so don’t forget your camera! On the way back to Dawson, we will make a detour up the Midnight Dome, a hill that overlooks Dawson and the Yukon River.

After a leisurely start to the day, we make the drive back to Whitehorse, with the opportunity to stop at various scenic points along the way to capture the beauty of the Yukon. Once we check into our hotel in Whitehorse, you will have some free time to spend shopping for souvenirs. This evening we enjoy an included farewell dinner at a local restaurant, sharing stories and highlights from your journey.

As they say, all good things must come to an end. Depending on your departure time, explore any last-minute sights in Whitehorse, relax at one of the local cafes, or take a stroll along the Millennium Trail. When the time comes, we will take you to the airport to catch your flight home to tell the story of how you answered the Call of the Klondike…
